ISO 535 determination of water absorption capacity for paper and board. Interesting to measure on materials that need to be water resistant, such as coated paper. Not suitable for thin materials below 50 g/m2, uncoated or porous paper (here we refer to Klemm's suction height ISO 8787).
Measured quantity: Cobb value, i.e. water absorption capacity (g/m2).
Preparatory work:
Before testing, sample handling takes place according to ISO 186 and conditioning according to ISO 187.
It is possible to make laboratory sheets of paper pulp according to ISO 5269-1 to measure Cobb on these.
