Burst strength
ISO 2758 determination of burst strength of paper subjected to a hydraulic system below 600 kPa (Figure 1). For stronger materials, such as liner, above 600 kPa, ISO 2759 is used, which is a different instrument (picture 2).
Measured quantities:
Explosive force: Maximum explosive force developed through a hydraulic system.
Explosive index: Explosive strength divided by the surface weight of the test sheet.
Preparation: Before testing, sample handling takes place according to ISO 186 and conditioning according to ISO 187 and ISO 536 surface weight.
