Thickness, bulk and density
The analysis is carried out according to ISO 534 determination of thickness, density and specific volume (bulk) of paper and board.
Measured quantities:
Thickness: The measurements are carried out according to the measurement schedule on single sheets (single sheet thickness) and in bundles of 5 sheets (bulk thickness). Bulk thickness is not suitable for cardboard. Single sheet thickness and bulk thickness give different results and are therefore not comparable. Based on these values, density and specific volume (bulk) are calculated.
Preparation: Before testing, sample handling takes place according to ISO 186 and conditioning according to ISO 187 and ISO 536 surface weight.
