The market for fiber-based packaging materials is growing, and hence the need for physical and chemical tests of both raw materials and manufactured packaging materials. In order to meet demand from manufacturers of raw materials as well as packaging materials, MoRe is gradually investing in more equipment, now in a new explosion gauge that can handle explosion pressure up to 1400 kPa.
We already have very good analytics to analyze both the fiber raw materials and the chemicals used in the manufacture of cardboard, fluting, liner, sack paper and label paper. In our dynamic sheet forms and on our experimental paper machine we can produce different types of packaging materials and test them. We can also evaluate printability properties in flexo and inkjet of materials we receive from customers or as we have developed on customer missions in our pilots.
So far we have had some gaps in the ability to physically test certain properties of cardboard, liner and fluting in higher surface weights, as well as in mass shafts. With the new explosion resistance gauge from Frank PTI, we can now test materials with a burst of up to 1400 kPa according to ISO 2759. During the autumn we will complete our equipment for different compression test methods to handle all types of such tests.
